Strong communities, stronger futures: How do diverse young leaders strengthen rural communities?

I believe having a collective group of young diverse women is a good idea as everyone comes from different places, backgrounds, environments and ways of life.

I think that by being people from all walks of life, we are able to share our life and stories that we have experienced as young women to help empower each other.

By being a group of women who come from all walks of life, sharing, learning and experiencing new things together, it helps everyone see or think of things in a different point of view, a way they’d never thought of before.

So, as a collective group of diverse young women, we can all use our knowledge and experience to have the like-minded discussions and conversations on how our generation can help guide and uplift the girls of tomorrow. Having diverse young people adds another element as we are the future leaders, we see things differently and have a different knowledge. The youth give a different perspective on things and we can help to guide the future, how we view it.

The main reason that I am applying to the Country to Cabrera program is to have discussions and conversations with others, as everyone has different ways of seeing things and different forms of knowledge, which makes me very excited to make new connections and relationships with other women from around the country who are trying to better themselves and their community.

As someone who comes from a small town and diverse background, I believe that it’s one of the main things that pushes and motivates me to do better not only for myself and my family, but for other young people in my community. That there is always a way to overcome your struggles and help better yourself.

As upcoming young leaders from diverse backgrounds, programs such as Country to Canberra would be a great experience for me to be able to excel not only in my own personal growth but also having the privilege of learning and sharing with others from different walks of life with the same vision of positive change for our future.

Giving us the powerful opportunity to learn and grow, then go home and share with our families and local communities. To help advise, guide and strengthen our young people and to show that you can make positive change.

It doesn’t matter where you come from, a big city or a small town, what colour you are,
what economic background or environment you come from, there’s always a path to positive opportunities.
