Why did you enter Country to Canberra’s Leadership Competition?
I entered Country to Canberra’s leadership competition as I was excited by the prospect of connecting with like-minded individuals, networking opportunities and the idea of empowering young rural women and non-binary individuals. When entering this competition, I knew that I had nothing to lose and so much to gain.
What do you hope to get out of the Power Trip?
I hope to further develop leadership skills and gain a deeper understanding of my values. I’m excited to learn about others’ experiences and how they have gotten to where they are now. Through this opportunity, I hope to gain the skills and knowledge to help make a positive difference.
Who is your role model and why?
I admire many different people for many different reasons. I am inspired by some people’s resilience and others’ compassion. I believe that there is much to be learnt from embracing the perspective of others and making an effort to emphasise with their experiences.
What’s your favourite thing about living in rural Australia?
I value the complex challenges, opportunities and experiences I have gotten from living in a rural area. It has taught me resilience and appreciation for the community around me. I like the openness of the landscapes, the slower pace of life and the flexible lifestyle.
What’s your main goal or ambition (right now, or in the future)?
I want to make a difference in people’s lives. This could be through a small act of kindness or advocating to make a change. A big goal of mine for the next few years is to do well in my senior studies and to continue on to university.
Tell us a couple of things you do to relax or have fun?
To relax, I enjoy going on walks, reading and listening to music. To have fun, I like socialising with friends and family, being active through sports or other physical activities and I’m always up for a friendly competition.
