Isabella Chalker | 15 Years | Bunbury Senior High School | Bunbury, Western Australia

Why did you enter Country to Canberra’s Leadership Competition?

I’m always on the lookout for opportunities that push me out of my comfort zone and help me grow. Country to Canberra stood out because it’s a chance to meet people who are passionate about making a difference. I’m super excited to go to Canberra for the first time and cannot wait to meet everyone!

What do you hope to get out of the Power Trip?

I’m excited to meet inspiring young people and learn from women and non-binary individuals in leadership. I want to gain new skills and insights that I can bring back to my community so I can grow into the best version of myself.

Who is your role model and why?

Malala Yousafzai is my role model. Her bravery in fighting for girls’ education is so admirable and it truly inspires me to use my voice for change. Malala’s journey shows that even one person can make a global impact, and that drives me to stand up for what I believe in.

What’s your favourite thing about living in rural Australia?

I love the interconnectedness and warmth that comes with living in a rural area. There’s a beautiful sense of community. The open spaces and fresh air make me truly appreciate where I live, and the slower pace of life gives it a unique charm.

What’s your main goal or ambition (right now, or in the future)?

My main goal is to continue to learn and grow as a person. I want to continue to learn and challenge myself and stand up for what I believe in.

Tell us a couple of things you do to relax or have fun?

To unwind, I love playing the piano and guitar. I also love art and drawing. I enjoy volunteering as it gives me a chance to give back to the community. I also enjoy hanging out with my friends.
