Why did you enter Country to Canberra’s Leadership Competition?
I saw the competition as a wonderful opportunity to expand my leadership skills, meet new friends and develop a greater sense of personal identity. It was also a chance to visit Canberra as I have never been there before. The competition was highly recommended to me by a previous winner.
What do you hope to get out of the Power Trip?
I hope that I will meet new friends and participate in a variety of activities that will not only enhance my own skillset but will be fun and a positive learning experience. I hope to widen my own viewpoints and network of connections. I look forward to learning from the other participants and putting my new skills into practice when I return home.
Who is your role model and why?
My role model cannot be defined by one, singular individual. Rather, my role model is a collection of inspiring people and leaders who have guided me along my journey. Whether it be school, community or culture, each has contributed in their own way to inspire and ignite a passion for community, learning and success.
What’s your favourite thing about living in rural Australia?
Living in rural Queensland has provided me with many opportunities for personal development and positive experiences. I enjoy accessing the wonderful local environment and the animals around me. I have many wonderful friends and participate in a variety of sporting and cultural activities.
What’s your main goal or ambition (right now, or in the future)?
I would like to put myself in a position where I feel comfortable and confident to help others as they have helped me along my journey. I hope to study hard and attend university where I can learn further skills to give back to my community and beyond.
Tell us a couple of things you do to relax or have fun?
One activity I do for fitness and fun is dance. This form of self-expression really allows me to unwind and engage a more creative side of myself as I strive to complete exams and other forms of competitions. Walking my dog and running are two other ways I enjoy my downtime to recharge!
