Jada-Li Crossey - Winner 2024

Why did you enter Country to Canberra’s Leadership Competition? 

The competition looked like it would be a rewarding and empowering experience which would allow me to grow upon my leadership skills and make connections with inspirational female leaders.

What do you hope to get out of the Power Trip? 

I’m looking forward to listening to leaders who have been successful in their field and finding ways to relate it back to my own aspirations. This would help me to gain new perspectives and ideas on how I intend to achieve my personal goals.

Who is your role model and why? 

I have many role models (especially in my local community), but I particularly admire Alexandria Ocasio-Cortex for her undeniably strong and influential presence in politics and advocacy.

What’s your favourite thing about living in rural Australia? 

I’m incredibly grateful to have grown up in a small community, as it has allowed me to develop irreplaceable connections with my peers and integrate myself in the local arts scene. My most valuable memories from my upbringing would be my involvement in community theatre and music programs and productions.

What’s your main goal or ambition (right now, or in the future)? 

I plan to go to university to study Law/Arts and pursue a career in politics. I hope that my education will place me in a knowledgeable and trustworthy position to advocate for and educate others in areas of human rights and social justice.

Tell us a couple of things you do to relax or have fun? 

In my spare time I like to develop my musical skills and write/produce songs. I also enjoy involving myself in theatrical productions!
