Learn a little more about our blogger Areej!

My name is Areej Hassan.  I was born in Pakistan, lived in Saudi Arabia and moved to Tasmania two years ago, so you could say I’m a bit of a nomad. I’m a huge TV-show addict, a history buff and an avid, albeit lazy, reader of fat, picture-less novels. I’m not much of a speaker but I do know how to write my mind. If I wasn’t planning for a psychology degree, I would’ve probably wanted to go into journalism. I’m more of a ‘what she sees and feels’ kind of a writer rather than a fantasy fictional one.

1.How old are you/what grade are you in?

17 years old / Grade 12

2. What community/town do you live in?

Burnie, Tasmania

3. Who is your role model?

Every time I face this question, my mind goes blank. I really don’t have one. I do have different people that I look up to, in regards to certain attributes and abilities, though.

4. What’s your favourite thing about living in rural Australia?

As someone who has lived in metropolitan cities all her life, rural Australia was a major culture shock. I love how welcoming and friendly everyone is and how you can greet a stranger without looking weird. The lack of traffic and noise is a nice change too. It took me a while to get used to it but now whenever I go to the mainland, I complain about the crowded, huge cities and want to come back to this quiet, little town.

5. What do you do to relax/have fun?

I watch loads of TV shows, eat desserts, dip-dye my hair or write.

6. What’s your favourite TV Show?

Wow, this question is harder than Maths. The answer would probably change every week. Right now, I would say, Gilmore Girls.

7. What’s your favourite quote?

8. What’s your main goal/ambition right now?

Take advantage of the holidays to catch up on my blogging, workout and take self-defense lessons.
