ALLISON MACLEOD - Winner 2024

Allison Macleod| 18 Years | Tallangatta Secondary College| Tallangatta, Victoria

Why did you enter Country to Canberra’s Leadership Competition?

I entered the competition mostly just as a practice of my own skills but also hopefully as a jump start into my adult life and being able to become a role model for future generations so see that regardless of backgrounds and identity, everyone has the opportunity to make change.

What do you hope to get out of the Power Trip?

I would love to be able to meet like minded people from across the country and create a community that stretches the distance and can last. I also would love to get the opportunity to form connections with significant figures within our country and hopefully give them a different outlook on the youth of this country and the potential we possess.

Who is your role model and why?

One of my main role models is my Auntie Jen. Despite the amount of horrible things that has been thrown her way in her life including taking in her sisters (my mothers) daughters she has still been able to have a family of her own and love so truly.

What’s your favourite thing about living in rural Australia?

I love being able to look out forever into the mountains and seeing nothing but nature. I am also a very loud individual with very limited volume control so it is nice to be on a farm without being concerned about

What’s your main goal or ambition (right now, or in the future)?

I want to be able to provide safe places for others to improve themselves mentally and physically as well as a potential escape from possible unhealthy home environments.

Tell us a couple of things you do to relax or have fun?

I spend a lot of time making flowers out of old books and sheet music as decorations. I enjoy being active and in particular swimming. I also love cooking and making not only tasty but healthy meals for my family
