Why did you enter Country to Canberra’s Leadership Competition?
I entered because C2C seems like an amazing opportunity to meet likeminded, driven people who share my passion for empowering women to follow their aspirations. I enjoy learning new things and the collaboration with others during the program will allow me to explore new perspectives about gender equality.

What do you hope to get out of C2C on Screen?
From the experience of C2C on Screen I hope to cultivate my leadership skills and obtain more tools to encourage others to do the same in my community. I hope to learn about accommodating to different communication styles, something I believe will become incredibly important in a workplace setting.

Who is your role model and why?
Alyssa Carson is my role model and is the youngest Astronaut in Training in history. Through her involvement at NASA and ground-breaking achievements, Alyssa is paving the way for other enthusiastic women to choose a path in STEM.

What’s your favourite thing about living in rural Australia?
Something I have come to respect about living in a rural area is its ability to persevere through any hardship due to the strong sense of community. As a result, I have learnt about and adopted a unique resilience that I will carry for the rest of my life.

What’s your favourite quote?
Logic will get you from A to Z; imagination will take you everywhere.’- Albert Einstein

What’s your main goal or ambition (right now, or in the future)?
I really love science and hope to be a Flight Surgeon one day. This is a doctor specialised in aerospace medicine, with my greatest ambition working at NASA. I hope to be a leader in a generation of STEM where female success is so normalised that we do not have to attach gender to our achievements. Space science is an incredible thing as it promotes equality between both countries and gender through cooperation.

Tell us a couple of things you do to relax or have fun?
I love reading anything from Jane Austen’s ‘Pride and Prejudice’ to J.K.Rowling’s ‘Harry Potter’. I find inspiration from the characters and it is sort of a meditative outlet for me. I also love horse riding, one of my favourite things in the world being galloping along the beach.
