Why did you enter Country to Canberra’s Leadership Competition?
I first heard about C2C at a school meeting. Unfortunately, due to a badly timed illness, I missed the window to nominate for Year 12 leadership roles. Still smarting, I went home and read all about the competition. This was a leadership opportunity I was not going to miss.

What do you hope to get out of C2C on Screen?
One of the most valuable things I can take away from C2C on screen is friendship. Now more than ever it is important to stay connected, and I hope that this experience will grant me the opportunity to form bonds with other strong young women from rural parts of Australia.

Who is your role model and why?
I remember standing in a store line. In front of us a pregnant woman apologised stressfully as her card declined. I watched my dad put a hand on her shoulder as he paid for her shopping. That was the  moment I saw how a simple act can mean so much.

What’s your favourite thing about living in rural Australia?
It’s the little things that make me truly fall in love with the Australian country. The visibility of the stars, the kangaroos by the window, the sense of family throughout the entire community, the support, and the way it brings meaning to the word home.

What’s your favourite quote?
Neither revolution nor reformation can ultimately change a society, rather you must tell a new powerful tale, one so persuasive that it sweeps away the old myths and becomes the preferred story, one so inclusive that it gathers all the bits of our past and our present into a coherent whole, one that even shines some light into our future so that we can take the next step… If you want to change a society, then you have to tell an alternative story. – Ivan Illich

What’s your main goal or ambition (right now, or in the future)?
As I am at the very start of year twelve, I’d have to say that my main goal at the moment is to complete the HSC, and to be proud of the results. I want to finish school knowing I created opportunities, had new experiences, and stayed true to myself. Through all this I want to be a good person, do good things, and help people. Simple acts can go a long way.

Tell us a couple of things you do to relax or have fun?
It is through stories and books that I relax. Reading and writing helps me calm down, helps me make sense of the things in my world. It is this passion that encourages me to put myself out there, have fun, and push myself to try new things.
