2020 Winner Suzanne Daugherty
Age:
17

Grade: 12

Town: Orange, NSW

Why did I enter? I chose to enter the Country to Canberra competition because I knew it was an amazing opportunity to expand my horizons and make new friends with other girls I could meet along the way. I also want to know more about being a positive role model for the girl’s in my community.

What do I hope to get out of C2C?
I hope to gain from C2C new friends and professional ways to be a better woman in my rural community. I hope to gain some public speaking skills and learn what it takes to lead in my community, and take hold of my future.

Who is my role model? I would definitely say my parents. They are always guiding me in how to be kind and brave. They encourage me to be the best version of myself, not let others judge me and to try new things such as Country to Canberra.

Favourite thing about living in a rural area? My favourite thing about living in a rural community is the nature and animals. I have goats, and I love seeing them jump around and grow up. It makes me appreciate the things I have.

Favourite quote? “No weapon formed against you shall prosper.” -Isaiah 54:17

Main goal/ambition? I have many goals in my life. For now, I aim to do the best I can on my HSC, and be a great School Captain to my fellow students and school staff. When I graduate, I hope to achieve my dream of creating movies using my art skills, and fostering animals while I am home.

How do I relax/fun? I love to create things, whether it be painting, drawing, writing, baking, sewing or performing.  I love to make things. I can often be found in my room sewing a dress, drawing a realistic portrait on my computer, eating a dessert I made, or doing a limited edition concert for my dog.

What are your Social Media handles? I have Instagram I use to promote my artworks @suzartillustration
