  1. Describe yourself in 100 words or less!

My name is Imogen House; I’m a co-president of the Student Executive Council (Wynyard High School). I would describe myself as an easy going and bubbly person. I love being around my friends and family. I spend a lot of my time exploring new places and taking photographs of the many amazing places Tasmania has to offer. Overall I feel as though I’m a confident and kind person.

  1. How old are you, what grade are you in and what community/town do you live in?

I’m sixteen years old. Currently I am attending Wynyard High School in grade ten. Wynyard High School is a school of 260 students.  I live at Wynyard which is a rural coastal town on the North West Coast of Tasmania. Wynyard is a municipality of approximately 8000 people.  The area is a well known agricultural area with dairying, fishing, vegetable and flower production.  Also there are manufacturing industries situated in the local area.

  1. Who is your role model and why?

For me I don’t really have a specific role model. I definitely have people in my life that I look up to and admire but not a “role model” as such. Both my parents would be people I look up to most because they have shaped me into the person I am today and have raised me to be a good person. I’ve learnt many valuable life lessons off them and I see myself very lucky to have two amazing parents that have taught me so many things.

  1. What’s your favourite thing about living in rural Australia?

My favourite thing about living in rural Australia is being away from all the chaos that “city life” usually brings. The amount of beautiful places right on my doorstep overwhelms me and I am so grateful that I can call Tasmania home. I am fortunate that  within half an hour from my home I can be on beautiful beaches or in wilderness parts of Tasmania. Within ninety minutes I can be in the world renowned Cradle Mountain National Park.

  1. What are you passionate about?

One thing I am passionate about is travel. The idea of hopping on a plane and being hours away from experiencing different cultures and meeting new people is such a cool concept. I think travel gives people open minds and a lifetime of memorable moments. In my future I hope to travel and get as much out of life as I can.

  1. What’s your favourite quote?

My favourite quote is “Everybody is a genius. But if you judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree it will live its whole life believing that it is stupid” – Albert Einstein.

  1. Why did you enter Country to Canberra’s Leadership Competition? (100 words max)

At the beginning of the year I promised myself that I’d take up all opportunities that were given to me and I would do things that would help me grow as a person. When my teacher told me about this competition I thought it sounded like a once in a lifetime opportunity and that I could really learn a lot from such an amazing experience. I thought even if I don’t win at least I’ve given it my best shot and that’s the attitude I really want to promote to others in my school.

  1. What do you hope to get out of the Power Trip to Canberra?

I hope to experience new and different things and to learn more about being a leader and being a successful role model to others. I love the idea of meeting new people and sharing such a unique experience with them.

  1. What’s your main goal/ambition right now?

My main goal right now is to finish my school year off strong and with a positive attitude so I am in the right frame of mind to begin college in 2017. I want to be successful in college so I can broaden the opportunities for my future.

  1. Tell us a couple of things you to relax/have fun?

A couple of things I do to relax are spending time at the beach with my friends and family and reading. Some things I do for fun include playing basketball and I am also a member of a local surf club. But one thing in general is being around my favourite people and making memories with them.

11. How do people stay in touch with you?

Most people stay in touch with me via social media:
