Bio: Nayani Navaneethan, NSW Winner 2018

Describe yourself in 80 words or less.
I am Nayani Navaneethan and I am a very enthusiastic and ambitious person, who loves to make new friends and is open to different experiences, challenges and adventures. I also thought it would be important to mention that I love watching Netflix and eating chocolate.

How old are you, what grade are you in and what community/town do you live in?
I am sixteen years old and I am in year 10 at Marian Catholic College. I live in Griffith, New South Wales.

Why did you enter Country to Canberra’s Leadership Competition?
I entered this Leadership Competition because I was intrigued by the topic which was set this year and thought it would be worth giving a shot, to be able to attend a once in a lifetime experience where you had the opportunity to be able to meet important figures and role models.

What do you hope to get out of the Power Trip to Canberra? 
I hope to gain valuable public speaking skills and learn a wide range of knowledge about Australian Issues and politics, as well as make new friends.

Who is your role model and why?
Both my parents would be my role models because of their selfless acts and the way they have instilled me with good and solid morals and values.

What is your favourite thing about living in rural Australia?
My favourite thing about living in rural Australia is how close a community can become and I am very appreciative to be able to live in a friendly, welcoming and supportive area.

What are you passionate about?
I am very passionate about enhancing my knowledge and helping others, including the wider community to make a positive difference. I constantly strive to do my best in all activities to achieve success and be a role model to others.

What is your main goal/ambition right now?
My main goal right now is to participate in many different events, be open to new experiences, always have a go at everything and never give up.

Tell us a couple of things you do to relax/have fun?
I love playing netball, going for a swim, watching movies, catching up with friends, reading, organising anything and playing the piano as a mean of having fun while relaxing.
