Why did you enter Country to Canberra's Leadership Competition?
I entered for personal growth and to eventually be in a position to help my community with what I learn. I also wanted to meet other rural girls and non-binary persons who have similar interests. The opportunity to visit Parliament House in Canberra was another motivator, which I still hope to do one day.
What do you hope to get out of C2C on Screen?
I am keen to learn skills and gain knowledge about leadership and points of influence. Collective influence fascinates me, so I also want to understand it more. On a personal level I hope to gain confidence and connections with likeminded people from all over Australia (which hopefully means I have excuses to visit every state and territory!)
Who is your role model and why?
I come from a line of strong independent women in my family. Examples of courage, strength in the face of adversity, and advocating for others is hanging off every branch in my family tree, this inspires me to look for possibilities in every situation.
What’s your favourite thing about living in rural Australia?
My favourite thing about living in rural Australia is the laid-back relaxed approach to life. The populations are smaller, but the connections seem to be greater. I also love seeing small towns come together in times of crisis and/or celebration. It’s during these times it doesn’t matter what side of the track you come from everybody joins as one.
What’s your main goal or ambition (right now, or in the future)?
My current goal is to focus on my schooling for the next couple of years to gain entry into university in the health sector. Then I have every intention of coming back from university and using my profession in a rural community, because of the strong demand for rural health workers. Alongside that I have always been interested in the media world. So, I want to work on building my social media presence and one day hopefully combine the two.
Tell us a couple of things you do to relax or have fun?
To relax and wind down I catch up on all my streaming platforms. I enjoy hanging out with friends- at school, at home, or at a local café. I’m also in my school cheerleading team which I love, going to cheer competitions is one of my favourite things to do.
