Caitlin Evans - Winner 2025

Caitlin Evans | 16 Years | Narrabri High School | Narrabri, New South Wales

Why did you enter Country to Canberra’s Leadership Competition?

When I learnt about this competition online I was intrigued by the chance to learn more about politics and the amazing work of our current female leaders while improving my own leadership and public speaking skills.

What do you hope to get out of the Power Trip?

I look forward to the opportunity to meet other female leaders, mentors and entrants alike, and learn from the diverse range of people I’ll get to encounter. I also hope this trip offers a platform to discuss problems prevalent in rural Australia and work towards viable solutions.

Who is your role model and why?

I don’t have one singular role model that I aspire to, instead I’ve come to admire many people. Whether they’re athletes such as Bonnie Hancock, speakers such as Lyndsey Douglas or my family and friends that I get to see each day, the qualities of all these people is what I admire most.

What’s your favourite thing about living in rural Australia?

My favourite thing about rural Australia is the unique communities and the sense of connectedness and support within them. Whether it’s my own or others that I come across while travelling the communities that are shaped by the land and people captivate me.

What’s your main goal or ambition (right now, or in the future)?

I want to represent my community and rural Australia as a whole through platforms such as the AgShows Young Woman while also completing a Bachelor of Rural Science once I’ve finished the HSC.

Tell us a couple of things you do to relax or have fun?

I enjoy reading, sports such as Athletics and Touch and getting to work with cattle both at school and on my family farm.
