Deni Seaniger - Winner 2025

Deni Seaniger | 18 Years | Nhulunbuy, Northern Territory

Why did you enter Country to Canberra’s Leadership Competition?

I entered this competition to connect with other young women passionate about leadership and making change in their communities. I want to develop my confidence, learn from inspiring mentors, and gain new perspectives that will help me become a stronger voice for young people in rural Australia.

What do you hope to get out of the Power Trip?

Unfortunately, the dates don’t work out for me this year, but if I could attend, I’d hope to gain leadership skills, mentorship, and connections with other inspiring young women. The Power Trip would be an amazing opportunity to share ideas, grow in confidence, and learn how to make real change.

Who is your role model and why?

My nan is my biggest role model. She’s taught me the importance of kindness, resilience, and standing up for what you believe in. Even through challenges, she remains strong and compassionate. She inspires me to work hard, stay humble, and help others whenever I can.

What’s your favourite thing about living in rural Australia?

My favourite thing about living in rural Australia is the strong sense of community and connection to nature. Everyone looks out for each other, and life feels more grounded. I love the open spaces, sunsets, and how living remotely teaches you resilience and appreciation for the little things.

What’s your main goal or ambition (right now, or in the future)?

My main goal is to build a career that allows me to make a positive impact—whether through advocacy, leadership, or community work. I want to empower others, especially young people in rural areas, to believe in themselves and create opportunities no matter where they come from.

Tell us a couple of things you do to relax or have fun?

I love spending time with my friends and getting out and about. I’m a people person, so being around others makes me happiest. I enjoy going for walks, especially by the beach, where I can unwind, chat, and enjoy the fresh air and beautiful scenery.
