Madison Schell - Winner 2025

Madison Schell | 18 Years | Port Broughton Area School | Port Broughton, South Australia

Why did you enter Country to Canberra’s Leadership Competition?

I entered the all-women’s leadership competition to challenge myself, grow my confidence, and learn from other inspiring women. I wanted to build skills in teamwork and decision-making, while showing that young women can lead effectively. It was also a chance to connect with mentors and create new opportunities for my future.

What do you hope to get out of the Power Trip?

I hope to gain confidence, leadership skills and insight from inspiring women. I want to learn how to use my voice effectively, build connections with other young leaders, and discover new opportunities for my future. This experience will help me grow personally and empower me to make a positive impact in my community.

Who is your role model and why?

My role model is my mum, she’s strong, hardworking, and independent. She never gives up, even when things are difficult, and always supports others. Watching her balance everything with determination and kindness inspires me to work harder, be confident, and make the most of every opportunity.

What’s your favourite thing about living in rural Australia?

My favourite thing about living in rural Australia is the strong sense of community. People look out for each other, and everyone pitches in when needed. I also love the open spaces, the peace and quiet, and the opportunities to be involved in local events, sports and agricultural life.

What’s your main goal or ambition (right now, or in the future)?

My main goal is to finish school and get into Adelaide University to study criminology. I want to work in law enforcement or justice, helping create safer communities. Right now, I’m focused on building leadership skills, staying motivated, and taking every opportunity that supports my future career path.

Tell us a couple of things you do to relax or have fun?

To relax or have fun, I like spending time with my friends and family, whether it’s going to the beach, watching movies, or just hanging out. I also enjoy listening to music and playing sports, because it helps me switch off, stay active, and clear my mind.
