COURAGE TO CHALLENGE: what is the role of rural women in driving change in their communities?
Compared to the male gender, females are at a disadvantage.
You might ask how, here are a few examples:
Most females receive less or worse education over males.
Most females work within their house, doing the chores. Whereas males go to an office or a construction zone, etc.
When females do get the opportunity to work outside their household, they are often paid less than males.
Females are stuck on a norm such as “mother, wife, daughter, etc”, whereas males are just “blokes, dude, guy, etc”.
Our role in driving change within our community starts in our home, during a gathering with your family or friends.
Then we expand…. we talk about change with strangers on the street, with our work colleges and anyone we have a conversation with.
We talk about how there’s never any change and we want to do something about it, but we never do.
Until… one female starts organizing meetings, puts up posters, posts on social media, puts on events. Until… one female gets the ball rolling. Until… one female starts to create change. One female… that’s all it takes to begin changing your community, ONE female.
To create change we need to be confident in our opinions, know our rights, be committed and be excited. If we aren’t excited and committed to changing our town, our society, OUR WORLD… then we can’t change our community the way we want to.
Commitment and excitement are key exponents within changing our community.
Our role is to encourage young and older women that we need to change. Our role is to get all the females in our community on board with our plan to change our community. If we don’t have most of the females involved then no one will take us seriously, because our own gender isn’t taking us seriously.
But this is serious… WE are SERIOUS!
Change starts with us. Change starts with females. Change stats with determination, encouragement, confidence and excitement.
But what does change end with? I’ll tell you what!
Change ends with CHANGE. Change ends with females being paid the same as males. Change ends with females and males having the same rights. CHANGE ENDS WITH EQUALITY.
So our role as women in a rural community is to encourage, determination, support and boost others confidence.
Once females in our community feel the power of confidence, they’ll feel determined to protest, post on social media, put posters up, go house by house putting flyers in everyone’s letter box.
They will feel determined to change our community, then our society and then… OUR WORLD!
Change starts AND ends with US, with FEMALES and with ALLIES!
