My name is Hollie Hughes, I am 18 years old, in my first year of a Bachelor of Law/Communication (Journalism) at The University of Newcastle and currently live in Newcastle, NSW but am originally from Forster, NSW.

My favorite thing about where I live is definitely the beaches and in my spare time, I love to read, write, dance and practice yoga.

I am immensely excited about completing the first year of my degree as a combined degree of Law and Communication plays to my strengths of creativity and logical thinking.

If I was to describe myself in one word it would probably be; determined.

I aspire to be like passionate role models and leaders within the communication and public sectors fields such as Mia Freedman, Yassmin Abdel-Magied, Tracy Spicer and Rabia Siddique as they all possess the qualities I aspire to project throughout my life – courage, confidence, humility, and dedication to the entirety of their respective causes and work endeavours.

I believe what makes me a good leader is my ability to show initiative in times where things do not go to plan in order to rectify a situation and lead others through my example. I also believe that my ability to work harmoniously within a team and listen to others contributes to my ability to lead effectively as my taking the advice of others I can lead a team in a way that is admired and respected by others.

My favorite things about myself are the ambition and determination I possess which fuel me in effectively working towards achieving any goal I set my mind to.
