Justice

Poem by the amazing Georgina Douglas from our blogger team.

WHAT IS JUSTICE?
We say justice is punishing someone who has done wrong or unjust.
We say justice is ripping fathers away from kids and putting them in prison
because of their stupid idiotic mistakes.
We say justice is righting wrongs.

WHAT IS JUSTICE?
Is justice abusing a family on Facebook because one person in their family
screwed up?
Is justice taking your own revenge on someone who wronged you?
Is justice tearing families apart?

WHAT IS JUSTICE?
From crime to time,
From prison to newly arisen,
We send people to prison,
As JUSTICE so they can get help,
Is it justice?
Do they get Help?
Do they walk out a changed person?
Do they become salesperson?
Do they make better choices?
Do they hear the voices?
The answer is NO.
44.8% of people who go to prison end up back there within 2 years of their release.
Justice is not sending someone who has done something unjust away,
Justice is making them give back to the community,
Every day,
Justice is giving them the help they need,
Justice is letting them learn from their mistakes and stay with family,

WHAT IS JUSTICE?
Justice is giving people hope,
Justice is giving people a second chance,
Justice is helping people to right their wrongs,
Justice is giving someone a chance to be different,
Justice is giving someone the chance to change.

The compass for justice determines lives.
The compass for justice drives knives into families.
The compass for justice should be rapidly spinning.
The compass for justice should not be sinning.
The compass for justice is everlasting.
